Origin: Traditional (Kentucky fiddle tune, from mid-1900s)
First recording was by John Salyer (1940) and the field recording can be heard at the Digital Library of Appalachia. Salyer learned the tune from Bob Johnson of Johnson County, Kentucky, but (according to Bruce Greene) the tune was named for the fiddler who taught Johnson to play.
